RI's BABEL PROVINCE SENDS 30 WORKERS TO MALAYSIA

Pangkalpinang, Mar 12 (ANTARA) - The Bangka Belitung (Babel) manpower and transmigration agency has sent 30 Indonesian workers to Malaysia for the installation of gypsum at office buildings.

Head of Babel manpower and transmigration agency Soewargo said here Thursday he had held a training for the workers at expenses from the local government budget, which also covered the cost of recruitment of the instructors from Malaysia.

"It was rather difficult to meet the Malaysian request for 200 workers, and some welders even joined the group as gypsum workers," he said.

In Malaysian they work under a 2-year contract and paid Rp 5 million a month, plus insurance.

The Carrefour supermarket chain in Malaysia is also seeking 50 women from Bangka Belitung for employment as store attendants and cashiers.
