Kumho Tire idles all local plants for 5 days as demand wilts
SEOUL, March 12 (Yonhap) -- Kumho Tire Co., South Korea's second-largest tiremaker, said Thursday it has shut all of its three plants at home for five days amid sluggish demand.
Kumho's three plants in South Korea did not open on Thursday and will be closed
until Monday to control inventories as global demand for tires has sank, the
company said in a regulatory filing.
Kumho said the five-day shutdown will cost the company 1.6 trillion won (US$1.08
billion) in lost sales. Officials at Kumho were not immediately available for
comment.
