NAVAL SHIPS CAPTURE TAIWANESE AND SINGAPOREAN VESSELS

Jakarta, March 12 (ANTARA) - Indonesian naval vessels captured Taiwanese and Singaporean fishing boats for poaching in Indonesian territorial waters.

Spokesman for the Navy Commodore Iskandar Sitompul said here on Thursday the 'Hwang Jyi Long' Taiwanese fishing boat was arrested in Ranai waters, Natuna islands, while the Singaporean tug boat and barge - TB Marcopolo-107 and TK Marcopolo-108 -- were captured in Bengkalis waters, North Sumatra, on Thursday.

"Long line Hwang Jyi Long tuna fishing vessel was intercepted and caught by KRI Imam Bonjol-383", he said.

That Taiwanese fishing boat with a crew of 11, carrying more than 50 tons of tuna fish, was caught in the act in Indonesian waters.

"The vessel is provided with documents like port clearence and log book and data on recording position of the vessel CT4-2978 in sea map showed that the Hwang Jyi Long entered the Indonesian water territory," Iskandar said.

In addition, such evidences like net and tuna long line were also found and the vessel was alleged to have committed a crime in fishery by violating the Indonesian Law No 31/2004 on fishery and Law No 17/2008 on navigation.

Then the vessel with a number of evidences was escorted to Mawang naval base in Ranai, Natura.
In the meantime, TB Marcopolo-107 with macherel mark of GT 164 No157/PPJ manned by ten shipcrews with Donal Wahyuni belonging to PT. Pelayaran Teguh Persada Kencana. TK Marcopolo-108 belonged to PT. Pelayaran Armada Maritime Nusantara with Singaporean flag contained 40 containers of tissue, 33 containers of pulp and the paper for 128 containers.

"The two fishing vessels had been escorted to the Bengkalis naval base," Iskandar said.
