S. Korea submits World Cup bid for 2018 or 2022

SEOUL, March 14 (Yonhap) -- South Korea has submitted a formal bid to host the
World Cup in 2018 or 2022, the country's football body said Saturday.
The Korean Football Association said South Korea's application to FIFA, the world
football governing body, was submitted on Saturday. The deadline for bids is
March 16.
The KFA submitted its preliminary bid expressing its interest in hosting the
sporting event in February, along with other 11 hopeful nations including the
United States, Japan, Australia, Russia and Mexico.
The KFA said it has experience holding various sporting showpieces such as 2002
World Cup, adding its facilities are in good condition.
South Africa and Brazil will host the event in 2010 and 2014, respectively. FIFA
will decide the host nations for both 2018 and 2022 in December 2010.
