Integrated ticket system expected on Bangkok buses next March

BANGKOK, Sept 28 (TNA) -- The management of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority expects an integrated ticket system will be completely installed on its Bangkok buses within next March. BMTA’s public relation department said BMTA was coordinating a software upgrade with the Mass Rapid Transit Authority so that its electronic bus ticket system would be compatible with the electric train ticket system of the MRTA. The BMTA was acquiring the specifications of the MRTA’s ticket system and would need 4-6 months to upgrade its system. The system integration should be completed by next March, the PR department said. The BMTA rented an e-ticket system, cash boxes and related equipment from Cho Thavee Co for 2,600 buses. Later the state enterprise decided to exclude cash boxes which proved to be inconvenient. It would finish amending the lease contract to exclude cash boxes within October. The installation of e-ticket readers on its buses is expected to finish within November. (TNA)
