Saudi Arabian Airlines reduces fuel consumption by 159,800 tons

Jeddah, March 15, SPA -- The Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) remarkably
succeeded in reducing fuel consumption by about 159,800 tons in 2008
in line with the program set by International Air Transport
Associated (IATA), the Jeddah-based Okaz Arabic newspaper reported
today.


SAA started the program of reduction in fuel consumption by forming
an executive committee to follow up the program of IATA in this
respect.


The committee included SAA's Director General and representatives of
the administrations of marketing, air operations, technical affairs,
financial affairs and other concerned sectors.


Meanwhile, the flying hours of SAA IN 2008 for all of its flights
amounted 375,482 hours compared to 267,438 hours in 2007.
