Seoul shares open lower on economic woes
SEOUL, March 16 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks started lower on Monday as
investors were worried over the local economy despite last week's Wall Street
rallies, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) went down 2.68 points, or
0.24 percent, to 1,123.35 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
U.S. stocks closed higher on Friday with the Dow Jones industrial average gaining
0.75 percent and the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite index rising 0.38 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,468.65 to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15 a.m.,
down 3.15 won from Friday's close.
