Final voters’ lists to be announced on October 17

Manama, Oct.4 (BNA): A total of 134,637 voters have so far verified their data on the lists, whether through the supervisory committees of the electronic websites or the website. Citizens were given until the third of October (yesterday) to verify their names on the lists which were displayed, said Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission LLOC, Elections 2018 Executive Director Nawaf Abdulla Hamza. In a statement today, he said that the overall number of voters who checked the lists on the electronic portal vote.bh in seven days topped 131,640 while 2,997 others reported to the elections supervisory committees. He hailed the enthusiasm of citizens who turned out in large numbers to verify the voters’ lists, which reflect their keenness on ensuring the 5th legislative polls further bolster the democratic march in Bahrain. He stressed the importance of the judicial supervision which represents a guarantor of freedom, fairness impartiality and transparency of the polls during the different electoral phases – from displaying voters’ lists until the announcement of the final results. The decisions issued by the elections committees can be challenged before the High Civil Court of Appeals within three days. The court shall then rule within seven days and issued their verdicts which are considered unappealable. The voters’ lists were displayed from the 27th of September until the 3rd of October.
