KEPCO picked as prime bidder for Saudi power plant

By Nam Kwang-sik
SEOUL, March 17 (Yonhap) -- Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) said Tuesday that
it has been selected as a preferred bidder for construction of a power plant in
western Saudi Arabia, in a consortium with ACWA Power International, a Saudi
Arabian company.

The consortium plans to sign a formal deal with Saudi Electricity company in the
near future, KEPCO said in a statement.
The project to build the 1,200-megawatt thermal power plant is estimated to cost
US$2.5 billion, KEPCO said.
The consortium will build the power plant in Rabigh, Saudi Arabia by April, 2013
and operate it for 20 years, KEPCO said.
