Delhi Govt all set to make city tourist-friendly

New Delhi, Mar 17 (PTI) To make the visit of tourists to
the city hassle-free particularly during the Commonwealth
Games, Delhi Government is all set to go online to provide
services like ticketing at their doorsteps.

The Tourism Department of the state government is in the
midst of developing a comprehensive portal providing detailed
information about the hot spots of the city, facility for
booking of hotels, guest houses, purchase of entry tickets
and booking of tourist travel packages being provided by the
government.

"The idea is to make the city tourist-friendly and do
away with touts or unscrupulous tour operators so that the
tourists' visit is memorable whether its a tourist trip or for
business purpose," a senior official told PTI on the condition
of anonymity.

"The portal will have on line bank payment facilities,
details on tour packages being provided by the government,
communication facilities such as radio taxi, train and
aircraft," the official said.

"Besides information on reputed hotels, accommodations
facilities being provided under our Bed and Breakfast scheme
will also be detailed out," the official added.

He said the service will be available by the year end
and will prove helpful to visitors during Commonwealth Games.
In fact, even after the games the tourists can avail the
facility.

For better services, the government plans to enter into
partnership with private players in the field who can charge
nominally from the users each time the facility is used. PTI
