RI PAVILION AT BERLIN TOURISM BOURSE WINS AWARD
London, March 17 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Pavilion at the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin has won the fifth Best Exhibitor Award for the Asian, Australian and Oceania regions.
Opened last March 11, the event was paticipated in by around 111,097 exhibiitors from 187 countries and considered the biggest exhibition in Europe.
The exhibitor award was given based on an evaluation of the aspects of design, service, media and specialties. The first place was won by South Korea, the second by Malaysia, the third by Maldives and the fourth by PNG, Agus Priono, a spokesman of the Indonesian embassy in Berlin told Antara correspondent in London on Tuesday.
Compared to the previous years, Indonesia had actually made some improvements in display, while other countries also doubled their efforts to make an optimal display during the exhibition.
This could be seen from the list of the winners most of whom were new comers, except South Korea that succeeded in maintaining the first position, while for other categories such as hotel, travel agencies were also dominated by new comers.
During the exhibition, Indonesian pavilion which brought the theme on Marine and MICE was thronged by visitors most of who were businessmen and ordinary people.
The performance of traditional dances along with its traditional musical instruments also attracted the visitors to stop at Indonesian pavilion.
While watching the traditional dances of Indonesia with its traditional music, the visitors could enjoy a taste of the flavor of torabika coffee provided at the coffee corner of the Indonesian pavilion, he said.
Director General for Marketing of the Culture and Tourism Ministry Sapta Nirwandar held a press conference with around 60 journalists and had a series of interviews with German mass media such as Radio Deutsche Well and Focus magazine. In addition, Indonesian pavilion was covered by Berlin mass media and TV Berlin as well as Eurosport.
The Indonesian delegation to the International Trade Bourse Berlin also had a series of meetings with tour operators, travel agents, airlines companies of Germany in the framework of increasing German tourist arrival in Indonesia, Agus Priono said.
