Seoul stocks start up on U.S. advances
SEOUL, March 18 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks opened stronger Wednesday as overnight Wall Street gains boosted investor sentiment, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 6.41 points, or
0.55 percent, to 1,170.29 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
U.S. markets gained substantial ground on Tuesday, lifted by upbeat February
construction data. The Dow Jones industrial average gained 2.48 percent to
7,395.7 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq jumped 4.14 percent to end at 1,462.11.
