Hyundai Steel to supply steel plates to Indian pipe manufacturer

SEOUL, March 18 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Steel Co., South Korea's No.2 steelmaker, said Wednesday that it has signed a deal to supply 100,000 tons of steel plates for one year to an Indian line pipe manufacturer.

The hot-rolled steel plates used in making oil pipelines, called API X70, will be
shipped from April this year to pipe-making plants operated by Welspun Gujarat
Stahl Rohren Ltd., in the United States and India, Hyundai said in a statement.
The South Korean steelmaker did not reveal the value of the deal.
Hyundai Steel has already supplied 20,000 tons of steel plates to the world's
second-largest line pipe company.
Shares of Hyundai Steel were trading at 39,100 won on the Seoul bourse as of 1:06
p.m., up 0.51 percent.
