S. Korea's jobless rate jumps to 3.9 pct in Feb.
SEOUL, March 18 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's jobless rate jumped in February as companies trimmed recruitment in the face of deepening recession woes, a government report showed Wednesday.
The unemployment rate was 3.9 percent last month, up from the previous month's
3.6 percent, according to the report by the National Statistical Office. Analysts
surveyed by Yonhap Infomax, the financial news arm of Yonhap News Agency,
predicted 3.8 percent.
Employers eliminated 142,000 jobs from their payrolls compared with a year
earlier, the report showed.
