Switzerland against anti-Iran sanctions

Tehran, Nov 6, IRNA – President of the Swiss Confederation said new anti-Iran sanctions will bring more difficulties, adding Bern supports Iran nuclear deal, Chinese media 'Xinhua' reported. 'We have always thought it's very important that there is a deal,' Alain Berset was quoted as saying in a press conference. 'And we just want to reaffirm there is a need for an agreement to be implemented from all parts,' he said, adding that the deal had been 'working.' Switzerland had played a role in the agreement on how to monitor Iranian nuclear power, by 'offering a platform for dialogue,' before the deal was reached, he noted. Referring to his visit to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Berset said, 'the message of this organization was that Iran is really implementing the deal.' After Washington's May 8 exit from the historic Iran Deal, the US gave 90- and 180-day wind-down periods to other countries before it starts re-imposing oil sanctions on Tehran on November 4. Part of the US' illegitimate sanctions were imposed on Iran on August 9. The US President Donald Trump reinstated the US nuclear sanctions on Iran and imposed as he claimed “the highest level” of economic bans on the Islamic Republic of Iran. This is while, other JCPOA signatories namely UK, France, Germany, China and Russia slammed US walkaway from a multilateral international agreement. They also underlined supporting their trade with Iran. Earlier, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said that heads of four big states at UN General Assembly tried to persuade Trump for talks with the US President Donald Trump, but he has argued that any talk would be contingent on the other side's commitment to his own promises.
