Electricity Services exceed 8th Plan expectations
Jeddah, March 18, SPA -- The accomplishments in the electricity
sector over the past three years have exceeded the expectations of
the Eighth Development Plan, said Saleh Al-Awaji, Deputy Minister of
Water and Electricity.
“The performance of the Saudi Electricity Company over the last
three years surpassed the requirements of the Plan despite the seven
percent increase in the demand for electricity,” said Al-Awaji.
“Electrical energy had reached more than 10,953 cities and villages,
meaning that 98.7 percent of the country was provided with
electricity by the end of 2007,” said the Deputy Minister in a
statement to Okaz Arabic newspaper, which was quoted today by the
Jeddah-based Saudi Gazette.
