PRESIDENT HOPES SPORT VALUES CAN BE APPLIED IN ELECTION
Jakarta, March 18 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has expressed hope that sport values and rules can be applied in every aspect of life, including in general election.
"It is my hope that good lesson related to sport values and rules can be applied in every aspect of life, including general election," President Yudhoyono said at a function to receive the participants of National Sports Council (KONI) annual meeting at the State Palace here on Wednesday.
The president said that in sports the winners and losers had to be sportive to admit their defeat or victory by shaking hands after a game or competition, and such an attitude should be applied as well in general election.
"If the people like sports all along, they will be getting use to the sport values and able to apply them in every aspect of their lives," the president said.
According to Yudhoyono, the athletes were required to train well in order to win in a game or competition, and the same was also true with every legislative and presidential candidate to make every effort to win in general election.
On the occasion the president asserted his commitment to supporting sport development in the country.
At the function to receive the participants of KONI annual meeting at the State Palace, the head of state was accompanied by State Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs Adhyaksa Dault, Minister/State Secretary Hatta Rajasa, Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Aburizal Bakrie, National Education Minister Bambang Sudibyo.
