FLOODS INUNDATE EIGHT VILLAGES IN MOROWALI
Palu, Indonesia, March 18 (ANTARA) - Floods have inundated at least eight villages, in Petasia sub district, Morowali District, Central Sulawesi, over the past three days, following incessant heavy rains falling in the areas.
The eight affected-villages were Togo Mulya, Sanpalowo, Moleono, Koromatantu, Mandowe, Onupute, Maralee, and Bunta, Berdat Kalaena, a local resident, said here on Wednesday.
The villages were regularly flooded in rainy season, he said.
The floods forced local residents to evacuate to higher grounds, he said.
Morowali's Deputy District Head Sumsi Marunduh said the floods did not claim any lives and relief aid such as food and medicines had been sent to the flood victims.***
