N. Korean leader attends students' musical

SEOUL, March 19 (Yonhap) -- North Korean leader Kim Jong-il watched a musical
performance by university students, the country's state media said Thursday.

Student art groups from Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of
Technology, Kim Hyong Jik University of Education and other universities in
Pyongyang presented popular chorus and story-telling performances, said the
Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
The report quoted Kim as saying, "It is one of the most important issues in...
building a rich and powerful country to train our university students... as
valuable talents with ample knowledge, high morality and strong bodies."
The students sang "O Korea, I Will Add Glory to Thee" and "Cuckoo on the Road to
the Front," as well such popular stories as "My Unforgettable Teacher," "18 Year
Old Hero," and "Traits," the report said.
KCNA did not give the date for the visit, but North Korean media customarily
report on Kim's public activity on that day or the following day.
Kim, 67, was accompanied by Workers' Party secretaries Choe Thae-bok and Kim
Ki-nam, and Korean People's Army generals Kim Myong-guk, Hyon Chol-hae and Ri
Myong-su, it said.
