42000 materials violating author's rights system confiscated

Riyadh, March 18 , SPA -- As many as 42000 media and cultural
materials, including compact disks and copied video tapes, as well as
a big number of scanning machines used to forge these materials were
confiscated, the Ministry of Culture and Information announced today.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, the Assistant
Undersecretary of the Ministry for Domestic Information Abdulrahman
bin Abdulaziz Al-Hazz'a said the materials were withdrawn from
shelves of three video shops in Al-Shimaisi neighborhood in Riyadh
during an inspection tour last Saturday because they violate the
author's rights system.
