Former Samsung chairman Lee hospitalized

SEOUL, March 19 (Yonhap) -- Former Samsung Group chairman Lee Kun-hee has been hospitalized for bronchitis, a group official said Thursday.

Lee, 67, was admitted to Samsung Medical Center in Seoul on Wednesday evening,
immediately after returning home from his visit to Japan, the official said.
Lee expects to be released from the hospital after a week, the official said.
The aging tycoon has a history of lung cancer, on which he underwent surgery in
the United States about a decade ago.
The senior Lee, South Korea's wealthiest man, stepped down as chairman of Samsung
last year soon after he was found guilty of financial wrongdoing linked to his
apparent move to transfer some of his wealth to his son.
