RI EMBASSY IN MANILA FACILITATES REPATRIATION OF INDONESIAN SEAMEN
Jakarta, Mar 19 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian embassy in Manila facilitated the repatriation of 30 Indonesian ship crew members by their Taiwanese fishing boat through Aparri port, North Luzon, the Philippines.
The foreign ministry in Jakarta disclosed here Thursday that the Indonesian seamen will be sent home in two stages, respectively on March 6 and 16, 2009.
For the repatriation the Indonesian embassy issued seven certificates in lieu of passports lost when their boat caught fire on October 7, 2008.
When at the embassy, the Indonesian seamen said they had not received their wages, which they were supposed to receive on board.
The repatriation of Indonesian seamen through Aparri port was the tenth by the embassy in Manila since November 2008, involving a total of 229 Indonesian seamen.
The Indonesian embassy in Manila and the Indonesian foreign ministry, in association with the relevant government institutions in Indonesia, will try hard to settle the Indonesian seamen's wages.
