Korean builders notified of Kuwait deal cancellation
SEOUL, March 20 (Yonhap) -- Four major South Korean construction firms have
received an official notice from the Kuwaiti government that a deal to build a
refinery in the Middle Eastern country is canceled, industry sources said Friday.
Due to opposition from parliament, the government canceled the US$6.3 billion
deal signed between the builders and the state-run Kuwait National Petroleum Co.
in May last year, the sources said.
The builders are Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., Daelim Industrial Co.,
GS Engineering & Construction Co. and SK Engineering & Construction Co.
