SOME 117 INDONESIANS DIED IN MALAYSIA IN 2008

Kuala Lumpur, March 20 (ANTARA) - Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Dai Bachtiar said a total of 117 Indonesians passed away in Malaysia in 2008, most of whom died in occupational accidents.
"Most of them died in occupational accidents," the ambassador said after receiving compensation money amounting to 10,000 Malaysian dollars from Malaysia's Construction Labour Exchange Center (CLAB) for the death in 2008 of three Indonesian workers here on Friday.
In the meantime, CLAB, which grouped 10,800 foreign workers, of whom 90 percent are Indonesians, said that in 2008 there were five workers who died due to accidents at work.
"Three Indonesians and two Indians died due to accidents at work," Azlan Mohd Isa, chief executive officer of CLAB, said.
Azlan said that the 10,000 Malaysian dollars provided by CLAB for the beneficiaries of the victims was a compensation money from the company. It excluded the insurance compensation which was managed by the Malaysian government. ****3***
