GOLKAR, PPP LEADERS DISCUSS "GOLDEN TRIANGLE" COALITION

Jakarta, March 21 (ANTARA) - Golkar Party Chairman Jusuf Kalla and United Development Party (PPP) leader Suryadharma Ali discussed the idea of forming a "golden triangle" coalition among their two parties and the Indonesian Democratic Party-Struggle (PDIP).

The discussion took place at a 10-minute meeting at the Sultan Badaruddin II airport in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Saturday, the PPP said in a media release.

Kalla and Ali both happened to be at the airport at 1:30 pm on Saturday and they took the opportunity to hold the brief meeting.

The release said the two party leaders at first wanted to meet at the airport's VIP room but for political reasons in relation with the use of state facilities, they decided to meet in the airport's departure lounge instead.

In the meeting, Suryadharma said, the power of the golden triangle coalition among Golkar, PPP and PDIP would become a magnetic field in the upcoming elections.

"It is expected that after the golden triangle, there will be other parties that can strengthen the next government," Suryadharma said.

Although the meeting between Jusuf Kalla and Suryadharma lasted for only ten minutes, they made a commitment to unite their determination to make the upcoming election a success.

Meanwhile, Kalla said after the meeting that Suryadharma and himself discussed political matters such as they had done before to build a strong government.

After the meeting, Suryadharma returned to Jakarta, and Jusuf Kalla went to the Bumi Sriwijaya sports stadium to campaign for Golkar Party.

In his political oration at the rally, Kalla promised to make Indonesia a better countryu if Golkar won the upcoming legislative election on April 9, 2009.

"I promise that if Golkar Party wins the election, Indonesia will be better with a better government," Jusuf Kalla said in his political oration during the party's campaign at Bumi Sriwijaya sport stadium here on Saturday.

Before thousands of cadres and sympathizers of the party, Jusuf Kalla said a strong political party was needed to build a better nation, and Golkar had a lot of experiences with best cadres to do so. ***
