INDONESIANS IN JIANGSU URGED TO USE VOTING RIGHT

Nanjing, China, March 21 (ANTARA) - Indonesian citizens living in the province of Jiangsu, China, who have been registered as permanent voters were appealed to use their voting right in the legislative elections on April 9, 2009.
"The active role of Indonesian nationals in Jiangsu is really expected as a form of their attention to political life in Indonesia," a spokesman for the Indonesian embassy in Beijing, Rosmalawati Khalid, said in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, on Saturday.
The remark was made on the occasion of conveying her message before tens of Indonesian citizens living in Nanjing following the socialization of general election held by the Foreign Election Committee (PPLN) of Beijing.
According to her, giving their votes during the general eleciton would mean that Indonesian nationals have participated in building politics in Indonesia.
"Even Indonesian nationals have been living in Jiangsu for a quite long time, their participation in Indonesian politics never fade away," Rosmalawati said.
Indonesians living in Jiangsu would not give their votes at the polling stations, but they could send their votes by post as a mark of their participation in the process of democratization in Indonesia, she said.
Gito S, another member of the PPLN team, said such socialization would also be conducted in Shanghai, Tianjin and Beijing. ***
