Saudi Arabia to experience Sudden Climate Changes: Dr Almazroui

Dr Almazroui said Saudi Arabia faces prospects of drought conditions
that could cause reduction in water reserve and greenery in many
places, enhancing desertification. With an increase in surface
temperature in spring, cohesion between fine sand particles, forming
the Arabian Sahara, is reduced. This increases the intensity of dust
storms particularly in the north, middle and east of Saudi Arabia and
other places when surface winds are strong.

During the second half of spring, Dr Almazroui expects weather
systems to stabilize and temperature to hike progressively, as summer
season sets in. "This will be followed by a weakening of the
Mediterranean depressions and a deepening of the Indian Monsoon,
which is characterized by droughts and increase in temperature
particularly by the end of July and August.
