LET'S FIND SOLUTION INSTEAD OF BELITTLING ONE ANOTHER, SBY SAYS

Makassar, South Sulawesi, March 22 (ANTARA)- Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), chairman of the Democratic Party (PD)'s advisory board said all elements of the nation need to find a solution to country's problems, rather than belittling one another.

"Do not merely belittle one another. Let's find a solution (to the nation's problems) by working together," Yudhoyono said in an open campaign oration of the Democratic Party in Andi Mattalatta stadium here on Sunday.

According to him the Democratic Party is clean and dislikes rudeness in political activities.

Yudhoyno said further that the Democratic Party showed complete good behavior avoiding abusive words and continued with the national development.

"Which do you prefer, rudeness or politeness? We need wise political action," he said with full spirit, drawing loud response from the party's supporters.

On the occasion, Yudhoyono, who is also Indonesian President, mentioned among others cash assistance for the poor, the National Self-reliant Community Empowerment Program (PNPM), and assistance to a number of government medium and small scale business projects.

In the meantime, the government has also been building infrastructure projects in South Sulawesi province, Yudhoyono said, adding that "the task of Democratic Party, as well as mine and yours, to continue the development of South Sulawesi as well as the entire country."
In the open campaign, several groups of musicians like Ungu Band, Andra and The Backbone, as well as singers like Dewi Yull and Cici Paramida, entertained thousands of people joining the campaign.

On Saturday (March 21) Yudhoyono, when leading a campaign rally of his party at Padang Galak Square, in Denpasar, Bali province, promised that conditions in Bali would improve if the Balinese people supported his reelection by voting for PD in the upcoming legislative elections.

A three-week open campaigning activity was nationally kicked off on Monday (March 16) and will last until April 5.

A total of 38 political parties across the country and six local parties in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) province, will participate in the legislative elections on April 9, while the direct presidential election is scheduled on July 8, 2009. ***1***
