IM: piracy threats international economy, peace

BEIRUT, March 22 (Saba)- Minister of Interior Mutahar al-Masri
affirmed on Sunday that piracy threats the international economy and
world peace.

In his speech in the 26th round of Arab Interior Ministers Council
meetings (AIMC) which started in the Lebanese capital Beirut on
Sunday, al- Masri renewed the call of President Saleh to develop
the system of Arab League and establish an international center for
combating piracy.

He considered this conference as a chance to discuss the outcomes of
previous conferences and meetings which were organized by the
council last year.

Al- Masri confirmed the importance to sign the UN's agreement on
fighting terrorism, calling to end all the cases in Middle East and
Horn of Africa.

He affirmed Yemeni attitude beside the Palestinian people to
establish their independent state and al- Quds its capital.

It is worth mentioning, the meetings discussed several subjects,
including a report on the implementation of the recommendations
issued by the council's previous round, al-Masri said.

It would also deal with the outcomes of committees related to
preparing draft agreements of the security action such as combating
organized crime, money laundering, terrorism, electronic crimes and
corruption as well as reviewing the efforts exerted by different
Arab security bodies during the 25th round in 2008.

During the meeting, a number of security plans will be approved
including an Arab security plan and the fourth Arab information plan
of security awareness and protection from crimes, as well as the
third phase plan of Arab strategy for traffic safety.
