RI, CHINA AGREE TO STEP UP INDUSTRIAL COOPERATION
Jakarta, March 23 (ANTARA) - Indonesia and China have reached an agreement to step up investment and industrial cooperation, Industry Minister Fachmi Idris said here on Monday.
"The industrial cooperation between Indonesia and China's province of Jilin is intended among other things to promote economic development in the two countries," Fahmi Idris said at the opening of A cooperation forum between the Trade Ministry representing Indonesia, and China's Jilin province.
The industry minister said, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in industrial research and development would be signed during the forum which was the fourth so far held between Indonesia and China.
"With Jilin province which is famous for its technology and industry, China has been an important partner with Indonesia in the field of trade," Idris said.
Idris said in the forum Jilin province was represented by an 30-member business delegation led by Jilin Vise Governor Chen Weigen.
Meanwhile, Weigen said the Jilin business delegation was attending he forum in a bid to improve investment cooperation with Indonesia.
"The Jilin business delegation is present at the forum to develop various cooperation strategies in various fields ," Weigen said.
He said the global financial crisis made it necessary for countries in the world to support each other and try to resolve their problems caused by the crisis as soon as possible.
