S. Korea, Spain sign pacts on military, judicial cooperation

SEOUL, March 23 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and Spain on Monday signed accords on judicial cooperation in criminal cases and the protection of shared military information, officials here said.

The accords were signed following talks between the foreign ministers of the two
nations held ahead of the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next
year.
"Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Yu Myung-hwan had talks with Spanish
Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos and discussed various bilateral and
global issues, including ways to promote substantial cooperation on the economy
and trade, expand exchanges of officials' visits, boost cooperation in the
development of alternative energy, and joint businesses in Latin America,"
foreign ministry spokesman Moon Tae-young told a press briefing.
The Spanish minister arrived in Seoul earlier Monday for a two-day stay, during
which he will also pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Han Seung-soo and meet
top presidential advisor on foreign affairs, Kim Sung-hwan.
The ministers also exchanged opinions on the G-20 financial summit due in early
April in London, climate change, energy security, and Northeast Asian security
conditions, added the spokesman.
Spain will take up the rotating EU presidency in the first half of next year.
