UI STAGES FRANCOFONI 2009 WEEK
Depok, Mar 23 (ANTARA) - Universitas Indonesia UI) starting today (Monday) staged a Francofoni 2009 performance (La Semain de la Francophonie 2009) themed "Love Nature, For the Future" (Aimez la nature,Protegez le futur), in association with various circles until March 27, 2009.
Deputy spokesman for UI Devie Rahmawati said in Depok Monday the event was a collaboration of the French Study Program of UI's Cultural Faculty and the Canadian, Swiss, French, Egyptian, Czech Republic, Romanian embassies, the French Cultural Center, and the Jakarta State University (UNJ).
Francofoni is a big family of the French speaking community under an organization called OIF (Francofon International Organization).
Founded in 1970, OIF has 56 member countries and 14 observer countries, which on every March 20 observed francofoni day throughout the world.
The event was opened with the screening of Swiss short films "Il Neige Marakech", and concluded with a photo display under a cooperation between WWF and Canon International.
The other programs include a seminar on climate change featuring speakers from WWF, Cifor, Canadian embassy, and FMIPA of
Universitas Indonesia, on Wednesday (Mar 25).
The event from March 23 to 27, is held in the UI campus in Depok, UNJ, and at the French Cultural Center in Jakarta.
