SRIWIJAYA AIR MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING AT HANG NADIM
Batam, Mar 23 (ANTARA) - A Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737-200 airliner with 116 passengers on board made an emergency landing at Batam's Hang Nadim airport at 7.58 a.m, due to trouble of its left engine.
One of the passengers, Dian Nusa, said the plane left Tanjungpinang, capital of Riau Island province, for Jakarta at 7.31 a.m. but an explosion was heard after eight minutes of flying.
The plane was flown by Captain Pilot Terry, and up to 10 a.m the passengers were still waiting for a decision whether their journey will be continued today or cancelled in view of the engine trouble.
