ACEH GOVERNOR BACK FROM MEDICAL CHECKUP IN KL

Banda Aceh, March 23 (ANTARA) - Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) Governor Irwandi Yusuf returned here on Monday after having a medical checkup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during the past few days.

"The Malaysian doctors have permitted me to return to Aceh and go about my usual activities," the governor said at the VIP room of Sultan Iskandar Muda airport in Blang bintang, Aceh Besar district, moments after his arrival on Monday.

According to the result of medical check up at Subang Medical Center in Kuala Lumpur, Governor Irwandi Yusuf had intestinal infection and bleeding.

The governor said his departure to Kuala Lumpur was not because of a serious disease but of intestinal bleeding.

He had to be flown to Kuala Lumpur at 10:30 on Friday night, March 20. 2009 on a chartered aircraft, Gulfstream N888YC from Sultan Iskandar Muda airport.

According to the governor, one day before he took a leave to campaign for Aceh Party in Central Aceh and Bener Meriah districts, he had felt stomach upset.

But during the campaign on Friday, he did not feel very well and had bleeding so he was driven to Banda Aceh and flown to Kuala Lumpur at night.

However, doctor Fakhrul Jamal who accompanied the governor in the flight to Kuala Lupur said Irwandi's disease was not serious and needed further treatment.

"Nothing serious with the governor. He has been recuperated," dr Fakhrul Mamal said.
