Prince Naif holds press meeting 3 Beirut
Asked about the response to the Arab reconciliation call launched by
the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al
Saud at Kuwait Arab summit on security, Prince Naif said the
initiative is comprehensive as it has its impact on not only the
security field but also the social, economic, political and
intellectual fields, hoping that it would achieve all the
constructive goals aimed at by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
Asked to comment on a proposal submitted at the opening ceremony of
the current Arab Interior Ministers Council meeting by Lebanon's
Interior Minister Ziad Barood to set up an anti-terrorism monitoring
center, Prince Naif reminded that the idea was once discussed in
Riyadh in 2004, leading to a decision to establish an international
center, as part of the United Nations, to tackle the question of
terrorism. However, no development seen yet in this regard at the UN
arena, he said.
If long time passes and no positive development was seen, the Arab
countries will then have the right to consider setting up a regional
facility in the way that came in the Lebanese proposal, Prince Naif
explained.
