Bahrain attends WHO executive council meeting

Geneva, Jan.26 (BNA): The World Health Organisation (WHO) Executive Council is holding its 144th session at its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh is participating in the session being attended by all 34 members making up the WHO executive panel. She is leading a joint delegation representing the Ministry of Health and the Supreme Council for Health and the Supreme Council for Health (SCH). The week-long session focuses on key public health issues which include, prevention from non-communicable diseases (ND), full health coverage, priority programmes and strategies. The session will discuss a string of resolutions an submit them as recommendations issued by the high-level meetings. Bahrain’s delegation highlighted challenges facing the Kingdom, focusing particularly on the provision of medication and vaccines at affordable prices, and other health issues. The delegation includes Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Dr. Mariam Ibrahim Al-Hajeri, Media Departement chief Mariam Ali Al-Manaseer and SCH projects department chief Wasan Said Al-Khuzai.
