Key dates in S. Korea-EU free trade negotiations

SEOUL, March 24 (Yonhap) -- South Korea and the European Union reach a
provisional free trade accord on Tuesday. The following is a chronology of key
events in the two-year-old negotiations.

2006

July - South Korea and the European Union hold preparatory talks for a free trade
negotiations

2007

May 7-11 - South Korea and the European Union hold their first round of free
trade negotiations in Seoul

July 16-20 - South Korea and the European Union hold their second round of free
trade negotiations in Brussels

Sept. 17-21 - South Korea and the European Union hold their third round of free
trade negotiations in Brussels

Oct. 15-19 - South Korea and the European Union hold their fourth round of free
trade negotiations in Seoul.

Nov. 19-23- South Korea and the European Union hold their fifth round of free
trade negotiations in Brussels

2008

Jan. 28-Feb. 1 - South Korea and the European Union hold their sixth round of
free trade negotiations in Seoul

May 12-15 - South Korea and the European Union hold their seventh round of free
trade negotiations in Brussels

Aug. 27-29 - Chief negotiators from South Korea and the European Union hold an
inter-session meeting in Seoul

Dec. 15-18 - Chief negotiators from South Korea and the European Union hold an
inter-session meeting in Vienna

2009

Jan. 19-20 - Trade ministers from South Korea and the European Union hold a
meeting in Seoul

March 23-24 - South Korea and the European Union hold their eighth round of free
trade negotiations, and announce that they have reached a provisional free trade
accord
