PRESIDENT HOPES G20 TO YIELD CONCRETE SOLUTION

Jakarta, March 24 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has expressed hope the G20 summit of rich and emerging countries in London on April 1-2 will yield a concrete solution to the current global financial crisis.

"In the current global financial crisis, the G20 summit is of great significance. I hope the London meeting will come up with a concrete proposal to change the global economic order," President Yudhoyono said at a meeting with 30 foreign investors and members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) at the State Palace here on Tuesday.

He also expressed hope the G20 summit would agree on a fairer global economic order for developing nations which had so far had to shoulder the impact of the global financial crisis which stemmed from developed countries.

"We proposed global expenditure funds at the previous G20 meeting to assist the developing countries which are facing funding difficulties," he said.

For its part, the president expressed hope the G20 would serve as a permanent mechanism of global economic order which reflects a new fairer global economic system.

But he added that it was not easy to create a fairer global economic order without amending rules to allow the control of fund inflows to the stock exchange and banking sectors.

Yudhoyono is expected to take part in the upcoming G20 summit which is the continuation of such a summit held in Washington DC in November 2008 to seek a wayout of the current global financial crisis.
