Seoul stocks open lower on Wall Street falls
SEOUL, March 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a weak start Wednesday as investor sentiment was hurt by overnight declines in U.S. markets, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) lost 7.64 points, or 0.63
percent, to 1,214.06 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
The decline comes after U.S. stocks lost ground on Tuesday as investors locked in
profits from the previous day's upswings of nearly 7 percent. The Dow Jones
industrial average fell 1.49 percent and the tech-heavy Nasdaq lost 2.52 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,385.85 to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15 a.m.,
down 2.35 won from Tuesday's close.
