45th Annual Fine Arts Exhibition opened

Manama, Feb. 20 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has deputised Deputy Premier, HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, to open Bahrain’s 45th Annual Fine Arts Exhibition, which kicked off here today under HRH Premier’s patronage. HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa conveyed greetings from HRH the Prime Minister to the exhibition’s organisers and participants, as well as his wishes of their success in providing artistic works that reflect the advanced levels reached by the fine art movement and artists in the kingdom. The deputy premier stressed that the Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition is a major event that embodies the kingdom’s civilised image, as well as its keenness to support artists, expressing Bahrain’s pride in its distinguished artists whose artistic work, he said, matches that of their counterparts in the world. HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President , and staff for the tremendous efforts that they had exerted to ensure the success of the exhibition. The deputy premier expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Honorary President of the Bahrain Arts Society, Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa for the efforts exerted by the Bahrain Arts Society to ensure that the exhibition reflects the highest levels reached by the fine art movement in the kingdom. HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa also congratulated the winners of this year’s exhibition, wishing them further success. BACA President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa extended deepest thanks, appreciation and gratitude to HRH the Prime Minister for his patronage of the exhibition since the first edition. She also expressed her appreciation to HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, for opening the exhibition on behalf of HRH the Prime Minister. BACA President briefed HH Shaikh Ali during his visit to the galleries about the artists and their artworks. He expressed his admiration for the important annual artistic event that reflects the creative richness of the Bahraini artists and their ability to express artistic aesthetics in various technical schools. This year’s novelty is having two of most prominent galleries in the Arab World, namely Athr Gallery (Saudi Arabia), Agial Art Gallery, Beirut, Lebanon. BACA announced the exhibition’s annual competition awards, which is supervised by an international Arbitration Committee. The winner of the first place prize "Al Dana" award is Khaled Farhan for his work "Picasso sculpture", the second place was obtained by "Studio Shepard" for the work of composition entitled "chair" and the third place received by the artist Noor Alwan for her work entitled "In the Past". The exhibition is held at a time BACA is planning to honour the historical achievements of Bahrain, in a year themed as the "Year of Celebrations 2019". More than 100 artists took part in the exhibition.
