Work is underway for finalizing Gulf 20 stadium in Abyan: al-Kurshomi
SANA'A, March 25 (Saba) - Minister of Public Works and Roads Umar Abdallah
al-Kurshomi affirmed on Wednesday that the work is underway for finalizing the basic
services in project of Al-Wahdah International Stadium in Abyan governorate .
After a recent visit to the project's location, member of Supreme Ministerial
Organizing Committee for Gulf 20, minister al-Kurshomi, indicated that it was agreed
on finalizing the timeframes for implementation and presenting them to the committee
by all contractors within three days to be reviewed and approved as well as
completing the other equipments by the contractors in the project.
Four local companies specialized in construction are implementing the new
government-funded international stadium at total cost of YR5.6 billion which will
host some competitions of Gulf 20 Final Cup to be hosted by Yemen in 2010 and will
be set up on 1,000,000 square km with capacity of 20 thousand viewers and
overlooking Arab Sea .
The minister pointed that his ministry is currently coordinating with Ministry of
Electricity and Energy to secure the adequate electricity and following-up the Local
Corporation for Water Supply for completing water outlets of the project.
On another hand, the minister has introduced himself, during his field visit,
al-Saleh housing project for youth and low-income people in Aden governorate which
consists of 1930 housing units at cost of YR 8.4 billion, assuring that the
implementation is going on according to the limited timeframes.
