Prosecutors arrest opposition lawmaker over alleged illegal political funds

SEOUL, March 26 (Yonhap) -- State prosecutors on Thursday arrested a main
opposition party lawmaker with close ties to former President Roh Moo-hyun on
suspicion of receiving illegal political funds from two businessmen from
2004-2008.

Lee Kwang-jae, a lawmaker of the main opposition Democratic Party, faces
allegations that he received 200 million won (US$150,800) in illegal political
funds from Taekwang Industry Co. chief Park Yeon-cha and Chung Dae-kun, former
head of the state-run National Agricultural Cooperative Federation.
Park was arrested on charges of tax evasion and stock manipulation in December.
