FIIs drive Sensex to 10,000 milestone; buys Rs 1,290 cr shares
Mumbai, Mar 26 (PTI) Foreign institutional investors
(FIIs) invested Rs 1,290.74 crore in the Indian stocks amid a
bullish market, where BSE's sensitive index Sensex crossed the
10,000-mark.
FIIs were the gross purchaser of Rs 3,517.12 crore
shares, whereas they sold equities worth Rs 2,226.38 crore
resulting in a net buy of Rs 1,290.74 crore, as per the
provisional data available with the Bombay Stock Exchange.
On Wednesday, FIIs were the net buyer of Rs 297.60 crore
shares, according to the latest data available with the market
regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
A heavy trading was also seen among the domestic
institutional investors, who today offloaded a net Rs 461.877
crore shares, the BSE data shows.
DIIs were the gross seller of shares worth Rs 1,914.23
crore, while they bought stocks worth Rs 1,452.36 crore
resulting in a net sale of Rs 461.87 crore.
As per the BSE data, brokers on the behalf of their
clients and non-resident Indians (NRIs) also followed DIIs and
were the net seller of shares worth Rs 187.07 crore and Rs
0.42 crore respectively.
However, proprietors followed FIIs and were the net buyer
of equities worth Rs 40.50 crore.
BSE's 30-scrip Sensex today gained 335.20 points or a
3.47 per cent and closed at 10,003.10 points. PTI SKR
