Seoul stocks open higher on Wall Street rallies
SEOUL, March 27 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks opened higher Friday as investors
picked up tech and auto shares, driven by overnight gains in U.S. markets,
analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 8.89 points, or
0.71 percent, to 1,252.69 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
U.S. stocks rallied for a second consecutive day on Thursday thanks to
better-than-expected corporate earnings. The Dow Jones industrial average jumped
2.25 percent and the tech-heavy Nasdaq rose 3.8 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,323 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15 a.m.,
up 7.5 won from Thursday's close.
