Chiranjeevi to contest Andhra assembly polls from Tirupati

Hyderabad, Mar 27 (PTI) Actor Chiranjeevi, who has
launched his 'Praja Rajyam Party' (PRP) to take on TDP and
Congress in India's southern state Andhra Pradesh, will
contest the April 23 assembly polls in the state from the
temple town of Tirupati.

According to the first list of the party's candidates
released by Chiranjeevi Friday in Jaggampet, PRP will field
95 candidates for the Assembly polls and nine from the Lok
Sabha constituencies in the state.

PRP chief Chiranjeevi, who is currently on a campaign
tour of East Godavari district, will be contesting the
assembly elections from holy town of Tirupati, where he
launched his party on August 26, 2008.

While names of several prominent leaders of his party
find a place in the list, another batch of contestants is
expected to be released shortly.

The Andhra assembly has 294 members and the state
sends 42 MPs to the Lok Sabha. PTI
