Malaysian court witnesses `Bollywood` style scene
Kuala Lumpur, Mar 27 (PTI) A Malaysian court witnessed
a "Bollywood" style scene when a Sikh policeman accompanying
two accused, including an Indian national, turned into an
interpreter for them after the duo insisted on speaking Hindi.
"It is like Bollywood," Sessions Court Judge Zainal
Abidin Kamarudin said before asking the policeman Sukhbir
Singh for help to interpret their pleas.
Singh interpreted the content of charges in Hindi to
accused Maharaj Singh of India and Mohd Shoaib Nisa of
Pakistan in the court here Thursday.
The two accused told the judge that they had a lawyer
whose name was 'Reena, to which the judge asked if the name
referred to an actress, which got people in the courtroom
laughing, Star newspaper said.
The judge did not grant bail to the duo, who was
charged with committing gang robbery and wrongful confinement,
and set April 1 for mention. PTI
