EEC Office Secretary General Kanit Sangsubhan said that his office has paid attention to joint Sino-Japanese investment plans in Thailand's EEC and will soon set up a special unit to facilitate the joint investment plans in the long run. Kanit acknowledged that Japanese and Chinese firms have already taken part in all investment plans in Thailand's EEC, totally worth about 650 billion baht, while Japanese and Chinese financial institutes have also opened their service offices in the EEC Project. The EEC Office secretary-general stressed on his office's policy on speeding up finalizing the bidding process of major investment plans, to be taken part by Japanese, Chinese and Thai firms, at Thailand's EEC Project within this month, including the third-phase development plan of the Laem Chabang Deep Seaport, while the Thai government will provide its official support through the EEC Office. The EEC Office secretary-general stated that there is a specific law having been enforced to regulate the EEC Project, whose board is chaired by the ex-officio Thai prime minister as it is a significant project bringing about public and national benefits in the long term, expressing his confidence that the EEC Project should be, thus, carried on no matter what a Thai administration takes office.
