Chamber Official urges swift measures to facilitate exports

Riyadh, March 29, SPA -- Member of the Board of Directors of Riyadh's
Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Head of the Exports Committee
Ahmad Al-Kireidis has underlined the importance of taking swift
measures to clear any obstacles facing Saudi Exports.


The Exports Committee is engaged in drafting a comprehensive
strategy for enhancing the Saudi exports at the regional and
international arenas, he said.

He noted the strategy includes activation of the exports committee,
establishment of a Fund for development of exports as well as
establishment of a Stock Company for exports with the participation
of the government.


He pointed out that the proposed company will undertake the process
of marketing the Saudi exports in line with scientific bases.


Al-Kireidis said the Saudi exports declined in 2008 due to the
global economic situation despite the fact that the Saudi exports
made big strides in the last five years in an unprecedented manner in
the countries of the region.

In 2007, the Saudi non-oil exports amounted to SR 106.8 billion, he
added.
