N. Korea slams U.N. resolution on its human rights as 'fabrication'

SEOUL, March 30 (Yonhap) -- North Korea on Monday rejected the latest U.N. resolution condemning human rights abuses in the communist country as a political maneuver by Western countries and Japan.

The U.N. Commission on Human Rights last week adopted the resolution, led by the
European Union and Japan, and demanded Pyongyang allow entry of a U.N. special
rapporteur.
The resolution "is an outcome of a maneuver by the EU and Japan, which are
scheming for impure political purposes every year," a spokesman for the North's
Foreign Ministry said in an interview with the Korean Central News Agency.
The unnamed spokesman said the resolution is full of "lies and fabrications."
South Korea and the European Union co-sponsored the resolution, which was opposed
by China and Russia among others.
