MINISTER PROPOSES FORMATION OF CREATIVE INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Jakarta, March 31 (ANTARA) - Communication and Information Minister M Nuh here Tuesday proposed the establishment of an Indonesian Creative Industry Development Center (ICIDEC) to help small- and medium-scale enterprises.
"We need an ICIDEC that can help small- and medium-scale enterprises overcome their problems of lack of equipment and high cost," M Nuh said after opening the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Partnership Forum 2009.
He said the Center was expected to provide a place for various small- and medium-scale enterprises engaged in creative industries to carry out their activities from evolving ideas to marketing their products.
According to the minister, the center would provide the necessities of all creative industry sectors to enable them to develop better.
"The center can provide tools, equipment, engines, experts, finance, and marketing channels," Nuh said, adding that there would be a special center to handle creative industrial development from evolving ideas to product marketing.
He expressed hope that funds to set up the creative industry development center would be available starting in the 2010 state budget.
The minister said this year had been declared as creative industries year and therefore the implementation in the field should be well organized.
"In principle there should be a resources integration in order to make creative industries meaningful," he said, adding that Indonesia at present had a lot of creative human resources and therefore they should be given greater opportunities to develop.
